Course Description

PEN-402: The Day of Pentecost provides students with a comprehensive biblical study of one of the most significant events in Christian history—the Day of Pentecost. This course explores the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit, the outpouring of the Spirit recorded in Acts 2, the birth of the New Testament Church, and the empowerment of believers to proclaim the Gospel to every nation.

Students will examine the prophetic promises found in the Old Testament, Jesus’ teachings concerning the Promise of the Father, and the fulfillment of those promises on the Day of Pentecost. The course explains the purpose of the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the role of speaking in tongues as recorded in Acts, spiritual empowerment for witnessing, and the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in the Church today.

Special emphasis is placed on understanding Pentecost as more than a historical event. Students will discover that Pentecost established God’s continuing pattern for empowering believers to live holy lives, proclaim the Gospel with boldness, make disciples of all nations, and demonstrate the love and power of Jesus Christ through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Through Scripture study, workbook assignments, chapter quizzes, personal reflection, and ministry application, students will gain a biblical understanding of Pentecost and its continuing relevance to the life and mission of every believer.

Expected Student Outcome

Upon completing PEN-101, students will understand the Day of Pentecost as the fulfillment of God’s promise to empower His people through the Holy Spirit. They will recognize Pentecost as the beginning of the New Testament Church’s worldwide mission and understand that every believer is called to be a Spirit-empowered witness for Jesus Christ. Students will develop greater confidence in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, embrace the biblical mission of evangelism and discipleship, and be equipped to participate in advancing God’s Kingdom through faithful service, prayer, and the proclamation of the Gospel.
